Welcome to Holmsland Klit and Hvide Sande Tourist Bureau.

We are a local Tourist Bureau, run by Holmsland Klit Tourist Association. We rent out over 400 holiday houses in the Holmsland Council area, from Bjerregård in the South to Houvig in the North. .

Our emphasis is on personal contact and service for both house owners and renters.

It is important for us that our customers are satisfied with our service, and therefore we have employed additional colleagues, who carry out thorough checks both before and after every rental period. Additionally we have an emergency telephone number for you to reach us on if there are urgent problems outside office hours.

The effects of the wind, tidal flows and waves of the North Sea have created the beautiful scenery of Holmsland Klit.

The fresh Westerly winds, tidal flows and the waves have over the Centuries built up the almost 40 kilometre long spit of land, just 1 or 2 kilometres wide, that separates Ringkøbing fjord from the North Sea.

Holmsland Klit has wide-open landscapes with a broad sandy beach to the North Sea. Kilometre after kilometre of dunes line the edge of the beach, and in places the winds have created dunes that stretch right over to the Fjord. Generally the Fjord side of the Klit is an area of lush meadows and rushes. It is an area of very rich and varied bird life.

Hvide Sande is one of Denmark's most important fishing harbours.

Centrally place on the spit, Hvide Sande is one of Denmark?s youngest, but most important fishing harbours. The name "White Sands" speaks for itself. The town was established in 1931, when, finally, sluice gates were successfully installed between the North Sea and the Fjord. Today the Town has 3.500 inhabitants, with fishing and related industries providing the majority of work places.

Free experiences/possibilities on Holmsland Klit.

In the summer months you can bathe in the sea or sun bathe in the dunes all along Holmsland Klit. Walking in the fresh wind will put colour in your cheeks! You can also relax listening to the lapping of the waves, or the crashing of the breakers in storm weather.

Afterwards relax in front of the fireplace in your holiday house, or enjoy a sauna or Jacuzzi.

A cycle track runs continuously through the dune landscape from Nymindegab in the South to Søndervig in the North. Cycles can be hired in Søndervig or Årgab.

Hvide Sande harbour is worth a visit all year round. Early in the morning fishing boats unload their catch at the auction hall, and on weekdays there are fish auctions, that anyone can attend.

In Hvide Sande there are several anglers shops, and fishmongers. It is a centre for anglers, and in summer it is possible to go on boat trips out in the North Sea.

North and South of Hvide Sande there are wind surfing centres, including a wind surfing school. Other activities include candle dipping, swimming pool, golf, horse riding, and also horse riding along the beach. Museums and exhibitions at Abelines Gård and Fiskeriets House provide information about local history.

There are large supermarkets in Hvide Sande and Søndervig, and a number of small grocery stores throughout Holmsland Klit.
